Being a homestay family
means inviting an international student to become part of your
family for the time they are here. For many students and families, this
relationship can last well beyond their visit to Australia and, for some it
will lead to life-long friendships. Your family will have the chance to share
cultures in your own home and be a tourist in your own city as you show them
around.
As a homestay family, you will receive financial
assistance of $250 per week, information sessions and networking opportunities.
Every aspect of your international student’s study program, including their
homestay accommodation, is centrally managed by the International Education
Services team at the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) and
we are here to provide you with ongoing support including a 24 hour emergency
telephone service.
